Fostering One Dog, Saves Two
Jasper and Sammy came to Hudson Paws on our last rescue transport from the Fulton County Shelter in Georgia. They are one-year old brothers, Shiba Inu/Lab mixes, beautiful and elegant, big bright spirits, and goofballs when playing in the yard. Jasper started to show signs early on of kennel stress, the mental and emotional strain experienced by dogs confined in any kennel environment. Jasper started getting more anxious and hyper, jumping in his kennel, and barking. The staff worked with him on rehabilitation, but his progress was minimal. We mentioned him to one of our superstar volunteers, Kevin Conklin (a local Hudson Valley artist!), and he agreed to foster Jasper. Jasper showed immediate progress. After just a few days he is calm, chills out in the art studio critiquing Kevin as he works, goes on long leash walks, is great with other dogs, and even loves the cat! Jasper is a new dog and is more than ready for his forever home because of his caring foster dad.
Rescue dogs often come from tough situations. By fostering you not only provide the safety, love, and attention every dog needs, but you also help in the rehabilitation that prepares them for their future forever home.
Every dog fostered makes room for another dog to be rescued and brought to the safety of Hudson Paws.
Please consider fostering…the dogs will love you for it! Apply HERE or give us a call if you have questions.

Sullivan County Surrender
Our first blog post is about a group of three dogs that were living in a car with their owner that couldn’t afford food or shelter. After driving around looking for help and being turned away by the local SPCA and Humane Society, we got a call. We’re located three counties away and our facility is full just like everyone else’s, but we made room because that’s what we do. The dogs are now recovering from their wounds and gaining weight while adjusting to a safe a loving environment. They’re doing GREAT at Hudson Paws!!

Sullivan County Surrender UPDATES
Moby, Mocha, and Marvin are doing great! Hudson Paws staff got them bathed, well fed, provided soft beds, safe individual kennels, good long walks, and lots of love. We bring them up to our office for some couch and cuddle time. Yesterday we let them out into our large fenced in yard and saw them run and play. We couldn’t help but wonder if they have ever had this kind of freedom to frolic on soft grass, play with their pals, chase after toys… to just be dogs. It was joyous!
Moby’s first taste of freedom. Such a joy to see!!
